Nothing speaks more clearly about economical and military aspirations of the main powers than the ambitious railway network that spread all over the Middle East, connecting Germany with the Ottoman Empire, and Constantinople with the Levante, Syria and Mesopotamia. Zsarist Russia had similar plans towards Persia.
